Choosing a monumental marble statue is very different from buying ordinary decoration. Scale, placement, stone selection, pedestal proportions and transport all influence how the finished sculpture will look in a villa entrance, estate, hotel, resort or landscaped garden.
At Marmura Design CG, our collection includes classical and monumental marble sculptures for architectural projects, private residences and hospitality spaces. This guide explains the main decisions to make before commissioning or purchasing a large stone sculpture.
1. Start with the location and viewing distance
A sculpture that looks impressive indoors can appear too small in a large driveway or garden. Before choosing a size, consider where the piece will be seen from: directly at an entrance, across a courtyard, beside a fountain, or from a road approaching the property.
For large exterior spaces, the height of the sculpture and the pedestal should be considered together. A pedestal can give a work greater presence and help protect the lower part of the sculpture while creating a more architectural composition.
2. Choose the stone for the setting
White marble offers a classical, refined appearance and works especially well with neoclassical architecture, columns and light-coloured facades. Coloured natural marbles can create a stronger contrast and a more distinctive statement. Every natural block has its own veining and character, so no two pieces are visually identical.
3. Decide between an available piece and a bespoke commission
If timing is important, begin with our Available Now selection. For a specific size, subject or architectural setting, a made-to-order commission offers greater control over dimensions, material and composition.

4. Think about the architecture around the sculpture
For an entrance, a pair of sculptures often creates a stronger sense of symmetry. In gardens and courtyards, a single large work can function as the focal point. Hotels and resorts may benefit from sculpture placed along an arrival route, around fountains, or at the centre of a formal landscape.
The surrounding paving, columns, walls and lighting should support the sculpture rather than compete with it. For this reason, dimensions are best chosen as part of the overall architectural composition.
5. Plan transport before finalizing the size
Large marble works can weigh hundreds of kilograms or several tonnes. Packing, lifting access and destination conditions should therefore be considered before production begins. International delivery can be arranged according to the dimensions, weight and destination of the piece.
6. Bespoke projects
For private residences, hotels, resorts, sacred spaces and architectural commissions, see our Bespoke Projects. A custom project can be developed around the required dimensions, visual style and intended location.
